A Winter Beneath the Stars by Jo Thomas Review

Image
A wonderful read, about coming to terms with loss and living life to the full This book caught me by surprise.  As is the trend with Scandinavian romances of late I was anticipating a warm snuggly read with lots of Hygge references.  This is not that. There is romance but it is a slow burn, this book is more about the main characters discovering themselves in a world that has changed around them, be that through loss, a betrayal or just the passage of time.  I did laugh, cry and make several awwww's (blame the reindeers) whilst reading this book, the people on my daily commute must think I'm nuts but as an avid reader, they are all signs of a very good book. My thanks to #Netgalley and @HeadlineBooks for the opportunity to read this wonderful book. It's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me. Fourplay by Jayne Rylon Review

Image
I really enjoyed the first book in the Ever After duet, so I am rating it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. The book brings back characters I’d met in a previous book, and so glad I got to read Kari’s story. What I like the most is that this is the story of a woman who is trying to live a ‘normal’ life after being assaulted, the plot is realistic as there is a combination of reactions and emotions, from feeling attraction then doubt, to acting on the attraction and inevitable regret. The way that Ms. Rylon tackles this is sympathetic and realistic. Trust is not easy but Ford, Brady, and Josh work hard to earn it. As this is the first book in a duet, which I have read an advanced copy for review, I can’t kick off about the ending, but I have been reliably informed that I don’t have long to wait for book two, Fourkeeps. Not Just for Christmas by Natalie Cox Review

Image
This is an adorably funny book, perfect for a weekend snuggled up in front of the fire. I was first attracted to this book by the thought of Christmas and dogs, but the story was so much more. From the get-go there is a brilliant humor which runs throughout the book. The list of pros and cons of Christmas had me in stitches. Charlie is a woman after my own heart, curious and not necessarily thinking about things before they jump on the hamster wheel.  I spent a wonderful few days living the highs and lows, embarrassments and joy of Charlie, I highly recommend this witty and loveable ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ story.
