Retreat to the Spanish Sun by Jo Thomas

Image
From pups, pigs to new friendships and not so secret societies, this book as it all!   If there is a book written by Jo Thomas then I am going to read it without a second thought. Eliza leaves her house full of grown-up children to go to rural Spain to house sit and find peace and quiet to focus on her studies. The last thing she was expecting was to be a minder to a depressed pig and his offspring, friends with the quirky Spanish conversation class and falling in love.    This book is a wonderful breath of fresh air, the humour and, at times outlandish antics make this such an adorable read.   As always, many thanks to the author, #Netgalley and @OneMOreChapter for allowing me to read and review. It’s  🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟  from me!     Purchase Links: Amazon UK:  https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09PFJXRCW/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_RSXGAAGAGXRQGW2DG786 Amazon US:  https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09CKGPMHD/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_FGEPDXJ3NWGRWPMR05C5 Barn...

Beach House Summer by Sarah Morgan

Image
I was gripped from the first page!   I can sometimes get confused when reading a story with multiple points of view, but Ashley, Joanna and Melanie’s personalities are so distinct.         Joanna is old enough to be Ashley’s mother and the fact that they were both young when they lost their own mother’s, this is not what brings them together, an unlikely alliance that sends Joanne back to her childhood home.    I adored this year’s summer read from Sarah Morgan; an absolute must beach read for 2022   My thanks, as always, to the author, #Netgalley and @HQStories for allowing me to read and review #BeachHouseSummer, it’s  🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟  from me.  Purchase Links: Amazon UK:  https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09DKBKWPG/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_dl_6RMKMDJN14JYXNY7ZB0P Amazon US:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09DKBKWPG/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_EDCK2M44P90DJHTPFGPA Barnes & Noble:  https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/b...

Summer at the French Café by Sue Moorcroft

Image
There was something about this story that I didn’t get along with, it took me a month to read, and at times, I just wanted to give up, which is a rarity for me.  Don’t get me wrong there was part of the book I did enjoy, Angelique being the main part, but some there is a lot of negative characters, step mum, ex-boyfriend, woman scorned, coercive husband, absent father, untrustworthy friends. This is just a few too many negative tropes for me to get behind.   That being said, this may have been what the author was going for, and I was probably not in the right frame of mind for such a story, there are parts of the story I did enjoy, just I did have high expectations for a story centred around a coffee/book shop in a French park so it’s  🌟🌟🌟  from me. Regardless of my opinion of the story, many thanks to the author, #Netgalley and @AvonBooksUK for allowing me to read and review Summer at the French Café   Purchase Links: Amazon UK:  https://www.amaz...

The Wednesday Morning Wild Swim by Jules Wake.

Image
Jules Wake strikes again.   It is high praise when I say that I will put down whatever book I am currently reading to pick up the next delight from Jules Wake and her alter ego and The Wednesday Morning Wild Swim, book 2 in the Yorkshire Escape series, is no different.   The author’s voice and the tone of the story had me hooked from chapter one and I knew that life would be put on hold until I finished (much to the upset of family with food being late to the table.)   The tension between Ettie and Dominic is delicious and the counter balance offered by Ettie’s granddad and Gracie is the perfect contrast. The main story is perfectly complimented by sub characters swimmers, and as they and we learn more about them, it becomes clear that you shouldn’t judge someone by their first look.   Many thanks to #Netgalley and #OneMoreChapter for allowing me to read and review #TheWednesdayMorningWildSwim by @JulesWake, its  🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟  from me.   Purchase ...

Meet me at the Wedding by Georgia Toffolo.

Image
The perfect ending to the Meet Me In series. Tragedy bonded four friends for life and love brings them back together. It would be easy to think of Georgia Toffolo as another celebrity writing trying to get into the world of fiction, but the amount of work and research which would have been undertaken to write her debut series cannot be faked. There is a lot of depth to her characters and Lily is in my view the more complex of the four. Whilst the others left their childhood home to escape the trauma of the accident they were involved in, Lily remained, working at the Hawkesbury estate and planting her roots deep. The death of her friend and the estate owner, brings Henry Hawksbury and their painful past, back into her life. Meet me at the wedding is the perfect weekend read.  My thanks to #Netgalley and #MillsAndBoon for allowing me to read and review this  🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟  read.   Purchase links:   Amazon UK:  https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0008375941/ref=c...

Brazen by Jayne Rylon

Jayne Rylon does it again, I think my kindle is still smoking from the heat I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Brazen Powertools: The Shields, Book 3, Sola and Aarav’s story, but little did I know I would fall for Cash along with them. Jayne Rylon has done it again with her The Shield series, writing a page turning suspense where the steam rises from the pages. I’m not going to give anything away, but to say that these three characters deserve a happy ending is an understatement. I can’t wait for the next instalment.
