Crazy, Beautiful Love by K.L. Greyson.

Image
The much anticipated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rated return to Heaven.  I have been eagerly awaiting this installment of K.L. Greyson’s Crazy Love series, the mystery surrounding Tess and how the plot was going to weave her path towards Beau. Like with the rest of the series, the plot is fantastic for those, like me, who enjoy an over-reaching arc revolving around the central family. It’s good to reconnect with old faces as well as getting to know those who the story is focused on.  Tess’s story touches on some very real issues for many, homelessness, neglect, broken families, low self-confidence to name but a few, and Crazy, Beautiful Love allows us, the reader, to follow her as she blossoms into the woman everyone else already knows she is. Mixtape: A Love Song Anthology

Image
This ⭐⭐⭐⭐ review refers to Wild Pitch by Rebecca Shea and Your Everything K.L. Kreig. First off based on these two stories alone I have pre-ordered the whole anthology and can’t wait to read the rest of them. Wild Pitch is a seriously hot second chance romance which I enjoy, it was short, snappy and perfect for my daily commute. I loved the plot, the situation they found themselves in and the way the characters interacted with each other. One of the bonuses of a second chance romance is that I feel like I’m getting two stories in one, the then and now. This is up there as one of my favourite Rebecca Shea reads. Your everything is a prequel to the highly acclaimed Black Swan Affair, which I’m being honest was not my favourite K.L. Kreig story (I know I’m in a minority here, but I was not in the right headspace to read it at the time) but even so I could appreciate it for its well-written style and wonderfully dark characterisation. K.L. has not failed to disappoint with ...

Roam by C.H. Armstrong

Wow!  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (I’d given 10 stars if I could.) It has been a long time since I’ve read a young adult book and what a book to pick up. It took me straight back to my teen angst, not that I experienced anything as near as back as Abby, but I fell into this book head first. As I read on and learned more about Abby and her family through the flashbacks, I was struck at how well the emotions, not just of the main character but of her whole family came across. Her step-father's hopelessness made it hard to breathe, her mother’s guilt almost crippling, Abby’s helplessness made me want to weep and Ambers innocence gluing them all together.  Roam shines a light on life as a modern-day teenager but with one difference, she is homeless. The topics covered in this book are raw and are trying to make the point that homelessness is not just those who are sat begging on the streets, it can affect anyone, from any walk of life, the key is what are you going to help do about it. A Slice of Magic by A.G. Mayes

An enjoyable but quirky ⭐⭐⭐⭐ read. I really enjoyed this story, it’s been a while since I have read anything paranormal and this was a real treat. If you are not into paranormal fiction don’t be put off, it is only one part of the much bigger picture. A Slice of Magic has a bit of mystery, crime, romance, and comedy to boot, it would be so easy to get overwhelmed by the multi-genres, but A.G. Mayes has combined them into a well-rounded story. I found it a little tricky to get started but as I read, I could feel myself being drawn into the Morning Pie Crew, a group of friends from all walks of life who chat, gossip and eat pie before noon, my kind of people. My thanks to #Netgalley and #HarperImpluse for allowing to read this wonderful book. A Soldier’s Protection: Eagle Security & Protection: Beyond Valour Book 4 by Lynne St James.

An excellent read, romance, suspense and just a bit of humour. Perfect. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a revised and lengthened version of the previously published Protecting Faith.  Original review:  An excellent addition to Susan Stoker's Kindle World, Protecting Faith was everything I'd want and more. Love, friendship, suspense and a twist in the tale. The story is well written and has sparks of humour. The main characters are believable, the plot is well thought out. I have read the previous, shorter version of this book and I enjoyed this expanded version, there is more depth to the story, something the Kindle World novellas didn’t allow for.  Ms. St James has a talent for creating a suspenseful plot with added notes of humour, and her ability to keep the main characters in the foreground she had given the secondary characters their own voice which elevates the story to another level. I highly recommend A Soldier’s Protection, if you are new to the Eagle Secu...

Dear Rosie Hughes by Melanie Hudson Review

This book will stay with me for a long time and gets ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me. I honestly don’t know where to start, I’m still reeling a little, even though I guess what was coming (there are no spoilers here). It has taken me just shy of three weeks over Christmas and New Year to read this book, its format helped me to read on my commutes with easy stopping points. To have diary entries for each of the characters in Rosie’s life made for a well-rounded reading experience.  I loved the humor of the characters and their personalities shone through the words, I could be seen laughing and sobbing, depending on the point at the book on the 07:02 train to work each morning. I know the author used some experience she had from her time in the forces and that Rosie and co are fictional but reading this story brings home some of the more personal, unreported issues which come with combat. My respect for service personnel only grows.  Yes, there were bits of the story I wou...
